For years people have been questioning Janet Jackson about her body size (whether it be too big or too small) and with her new book, True You, the 40-year-old is finally ready to reveal her secrets.
In the book, the Grammy-winning singer writes about "my routine, my workout regimen, my nutrition. I wanted to talk about it," she says while talking to ABC News about her new movie, Tyler Perry’s For Colored Girls, out November 5. Check out the full interview in the video below.
The youngest Jackson - who was often called "Dunk" by her brother Michael because her overweight shaped resembled that of a donkey - goes on to reveal the issues she has had with her body since adolescence. At 10 she was made her acting debut, getting as Penny in the hit ‘70s show Good Times. But "on our first day of shooting they bound my chest because they thought my breasts were too big. I was developing early. It made me feel that the way I am, it’s not good enough."
This wasn’t the first time Jackson’s chest was an issue. Back in 2004 during the Super Bowl, the singer performed a duet with Justin Timberlake singing "Rock Your Body" in the halftime show. At the end of the song with the lyrics "Gonna have you naked by the end of this song" Timberlake tore off a part of her costume, exposing a pierced breast. The incident was described later as a wardrobe malfunction, but many TV viewers complained to the network who ultimately had to pay a half a million dollar fine.
